Russell Horning, better known as The Backpack Kid, is a dance craze inventor, social media influencer, and musical prodigy. Horning is famed for inventing a viral dance move called The Floss, which has had dancers across America ‘flossing’ their hips through their arms in a frenzied fashion. The move has become so popular that professional athletes, rappers, videogames, television shows, and more have adopted and promoted the fantastic dance phenomenon. It’s safe to say that The Floss has taken the world by storm: Horning has since been featured in Teen Vogue, Complex and AllHipHop Magazine.
The Backpack Kid rose to prominence through his hugely popular Instagram account, originally titled I Got Barzz before changing to his current moniker: The Backpack Kid. With an audience upwards of 2 million, Horning shares a range of content that features him experimenting with different dance moves, showing off his fresh street fashion sense, and collaborating on video content with other social media personalities and celebrities. Some famous names that The Backpack Kid has collaborated with include fellow dance craze inventor Soulja Boy, social media violinist Thmpsn, Fatboy Tyriq, Wiz Khalifa, and many more.
The Backpack Kid has recently begun to release his own music: his viral hit single ‘Flossin” accompanies his iconic dance move. The track has gathered an incredible 10 million views on YouTube, prompting lyrics hub Genius to request an interview with the young star. Follow-up releases have found similar acclaim, with ‘Drip on Boat’, ‘Have A Nice Day’, and ‘2 LITT’ further establishing his presence as one of the internet’s wildest personalities.
