Shane Williams

Biography

Shane Williams is a former Welsh international rugby union player who had a long and decorated career on the pitch. Because of this, Shane is great for coaching roles, brand ambassador roles and for delivering insightful after dinner speeches. Shane has been awarded an MBE for his services to sport and is best known for his hugely successful time playing on the wing with the Ospreys as well as the Wales national team.
Shane, as well as being a rapid winger with great handling skills and a real turn of pace, can also play scrum half. He was so successful on the pitch that Shane is the record try scorer for Wales, and is third on the international list of leading rugby union test try scorers, as well as being Wales’ most capped winger. Other accolades include being selected as the IRB International player of the year in 2008, and since his leaving the game in 2008, Shane has worked as a presenter on S4C Six Nations rugby programme Y Clwb Rygbi Rhyngwladol, while in 2013 he received an unusual call to come and cover any possible injuries on The British and Irish Lions tour of Australia of that year. He was 36 but duly obliged and put on the Lions shirt and played the game against The Brumbies. With this Shane became the oldest back to play for the tourists but also became the Lions’ first player from Japanese club Mitsubishi Dynaboars (short for Dynamic Boars). Shane Williams is now available for a range of public speaking, coaching or TV presenting roles.
