Jeremy Guscott

Former professional English rugby player Jeremy Guscott will forever be associated with his fast paced runs and for terrorising defences. Domestically, Guscott did the same for his side Bath, and was a key member of the English national team, as well as receiving many call ups to the British and Irish Lions. He spent his entire career with Bath and was a real legend with the fans as a result. One of the biggest names of the early professional era of the game, Guscott was a fine weapon on the field, with great balance, speed and composure on the ball. He is just as composed now when working as a pundit, delivering motivational speeches or working in an ambassadorial role.
Known as “The Prince of Centres” by ex-national team coach Clive Woodward, Guscott first played for England in 1989 against Romania. He scored three tries in that game and in the same season received his first call up to the Lions side that headed down under to Australia. He played in two winning tests and again turned out for the Lions in 1993. Highlights amongst a great career include a drop goal to help win a test vs the Springboks and some fine performances in World Cup games as late as 1999. He now works full time as a great and insightful pundit for the BBC during all their rugby coverage and remains a popular figure with lots of knowledge of the game and still plenty of passion for it.
