Quincy Jones

Biography

Quincy Jones needs no introduction. This iconic artist, musician, and composer has established himself as one of American music’s most legendary figures over a career that’s spanned six decades, countless accolades and the release of hundreds of albums. Jones’ achievements are almost too numerous to mention: he’s worked with almost every titan from 20th century music, from Miles Davis to Frank Sinatra to Michael Jackson, earning a record 79 Grammy nominations, 27 Grammys and a coveted Grammy Legend Award.

Jones began his career as a trumpeter and composer, arranging for giants of the jazz world Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and Cannonball Adderley before moving on to work in pop music and film scores. As a record producer, he helped to record some of the most successful albums in modern music, including Michael Jackson’s multiplatinum solo albums Off The Wall, Bad, and Thriller – the latter of which stands as the best selling album of all time, with over 100 million copies sold across the globe.

Not only a musical impresario, Jones is a successful businessman, helming Quincy Jones Entertainment and Qwest Records, operations which have launched the careers of countless acts. With more Grammy nominations than any other artist, a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and a spot on TIME Magazine’s list of the 20th century’s most influential jazz musicians, Jones stands as one of the most admired creative figures in the history of the entertainment world.
