Former rugby union professional Chris Cracknell was a fine competitor on the field, and now uses all his career’s experiences and lifelong skills to be a great coach. Born in Windsor, England in 1984, Chris currently coaches for the Fiji women’s 7s team, otherwise known as Fijiana. As a player he was fine flanker who always battled hard, had great ball skills and a real tough competitive spirit.
Over the course of his great career, Chris played for a number of top sides and always made an impact with each one. These include the likes of Cornish Pirates, Exeter Chiefs, Bath and Worcester Warriors. He has also had his odd run in with the rugby authorities and was subject of a WRFC and RFU investigation having become involved in an altercation with fellow Worcester player James Collins’s father after the team lost a key relegation decider match with Leeds. He was later fined and banned for a period but soon battled back. It was then in 2015, having retired from playing the game of rugby that Chris took up his role as coach. It was with the Fiji Rugby Union who confirmed he had been elected to be the assistant coach for the Fiji 7’s team alongside Ben Ryan, who himself became the Fiji coach in 2013. In 2015, he was promoted as the head coach for the Fijiana team after Ryan left. As such he is a very real rugby talent with a lot to offer any team, conference or brand.
