Welshman Joe Calzaghe is one of the greatest undisputed boxing champions of his generation. The charismatic puncher is now retired but left the sport as an unbeaten champion who has won titles including the WBO, IBF, WBC, WBA & The Ring Super Middleweight Championship and The Ring Light Heavyweight Championship. As such, Joe was the longest reigning champion in history who made 21 successful defences of his title and who held the WBO Super Middleweight championship for more than a decade.
In the mid noughties he was rated by ring magazine as a top ten pound for pound boxer and as his super middleweight and light heavyweight reigns overlapped, he retired with the longest continual time as world champion of any active fighter. Referred to variously as the Pride of Wales or the Italian Dragon, Joe won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2007 and was the first winner of the show since 1960, whilst in 2014 he was inducted into the International Hall of Fame. Fighting a total of 46 times he won all 46 bouts, 32 of them by knock out and fought people such as Chris Eubank, Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. Always fighting in front to f huge crowds either in the UK or Us, Joe was known for throwing flurries of punches and overwhelming his opponent and since retiring has given over plenty of time to charity.
