Nigel Benn

Biography

Back in the middle of the nineties, former professional boxer Nigel Benn was one of Britian’s most famous sports men. He was involved in many epic battles the ring and had fine foe in Chris Eubank and Steve Collins. Known as The Dark Destroyer, he was a fierce puncher with a peon toed style that eventually took him all the way to world honours. His amateur career stood at 41 wins and 1 and eh then signed on as a pro in 1987. Lots of wins came early, as did the knockouts, the British commonwealth’s Middleweight title and eventually a first loss to Michael Watson.
Benn then picked up ten wins in a row later in his career and became world champion by knocking out DeWitt in round eight of their fight. It was fellow Brit Chris Eubank who took the title off him by knocking him out in round 9. Benn had many more fights and was also a successful club Dj in the UK. Nowadays a popular personality who often appears on Sky Sports’ Ringside, at charity events, boxing shows and many other corporate events, Benn is a much loved fighter who laid it all on the line in the ring and is now a Patron of the Shannon Bradshaw Trust, a UK children’s charity based in the North West of England. He is dedicated to charity work and has bene on TV in the form of ITV’s reality show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
