Biography

Amy Smart is an American actress and model known for appearing in several major motion pictures, including Hollywood titles such as Road Trip, Rat Race, Starsky & Hutch and The Butterfly Effect.

Smart began her career as an actress in Italy, where she met friend and fellow model Ali Larter. Dreaming of stardom, the pair began taking acting classes together in Los Angeles. Smart found her first film role in the 1997 horror film Campfire Tales, kicking off a banner year for the young actress that saw her appear in the cult favourite Starship Troopers, alongside two further roles. Smart appeared in four films throughout 1998 before making another breakout performance in 1999’s football-comedy Varsity Blues. That same year, Smart gained one of her most memorable roles in her television career, starring as Ruby in the WB show Felicity.

Smart has continued to appear in notable performances across both television and cinema throughout the last two decades, appearing in a host of highly successful films since the turn of the millennium. The actress can be seen in classic American movies such as Road Trip, Rat Race, Starsky & Hutch, and The Butterfly Effect, equally comfortable working in both comedy and drama. No stranger to action movies, Smart also starred in both films in the Crank series with Jason Statham.

Continuing to build her profile across American screens, Smart appeared in three pictures in 2018 before appearing in the ABC reboot of classic action-adventure series MacGyver. She is currently filming scenes for the upcoming 2019 film Tyson’s Run.
