Paul Ince

Biography

Paul Emerson Carlyle Ince is a former international football star who had great success on the field as a player, as well as from the sidelines as a manager. Born in Ilford, London in 1967, Ince was active during the years 1982 to 2007 and for the most part was with the world famous side and top level champions Manchester United. Under the manager Alex Ferguson he was a part of a famous team alongside the likes of Paul Parker, Roy Keane and many others and never failed to leave his mark, tough competitor that he was.
As well as with Manchester United, Paul played for West Ham United and had two season in Italy with Serie A contenders Internazionale. He also had spells with in the top flight for Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He won most of his honours with Manchester United, including the league title, League Cup, FA Cup, and European Cup as well as the European Super Cup. Ince was known as a tough tackler and robust midfielder who was a real credit to any side in which he played. In all, Ince also played for England 53 times and scored twice, and was the first black player to captain his national side. Similarly, he was the first black Briton to manage a top flight English football team when he did so at Blackburn Rovers. He also had spells as player-coach at Swindon, Macclesfield Town and managed Notts County and Milton Keynes Dons in two separate spells.
