James Rylands’ expertise in social history, antiques and contemporary culture have afforded him regular appearances on shows like Sun Sea & Bargain Spotting, Cash In The Attic, Gardener’s World, Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Car Booty, Feather Your Nest with Linda Robson, Going for a Song with Michael Parkinson, The Great Antiques Hunt with Jilly Goolden and the beloved Antiques Roadshow. More recently, James Rylands was lucky enough to be chosen as a guest on Britain’s first ever panel show about the Royal Family – A Right Royal Quiz.
An avid traveller and scuba diver, James recently helped Greg Stone with some underwater filming of Bermuda’s historical wrecks for National Geographic. Other notable ventures of James’ include his expedition to Canada, where he stood in as an auctioneer to raise money for some big global charities.
Perhaps the most exciting event in James’ career was overseeing the sale of a female Diplodocus skeleton at his auction house, in 2013. Excavated that same year, the 150 million year old skeleton fetched a whopping £400,000. The piece itself was 6 meters tall and nicknamed Misty. Summers Place Auctions went down in history as the first ever UK auction house to sell a large dinosaur skeleton.
