Biography

Claire Cashmore is a British Paralympian swimmer who was born without a left forearm but has gone on to great sporting achievements. because of this, the hugely dedicated Claire is well placed to inspire young audiences, to talk about what it takes to make it in professional sport and more besides. It was at the tender age of nine that Claire competed in her first sporting event – a swimming gala. One of the competitors noticed that she only had one arm and made the mistake of asking how she could swim. Actions speak louder than words – she won the race and left this able-bodied swimmer dumbfounded. She has since gone on to become one of Team GB’s most decorated Paralympians of all time, winning a total of six Paralympic medals so far, two Silver and four Bronze.
