Billy Bonds

Biography

Billy Bonds is a former footballer who saw success with West Ham as both a player and a manager and he now has years of experience as radio pundit and guest speaker. After retiring from the game, he became club manager at Millwall and spent lots of time working as radio pundit for Capital. As well as playing for Charlton Athletic, he played 758 games with West Ham United, scored 49 goals and is a rare member of the 700+ appearances Club. He also played for West Ham in the FA Cup and League cup and holds the current club record for League appearances for West Ham, and with 804 games Billy is also the most played player in all competitions for West Ham.
On the pitch, Bonds was known for his physical strength and fitness. He was a thoroughly committed, tough tackling player with a combative style of play but always managed to use the ball intelligently. Billy is a quiet unassuming man and is a totally different to the persona seen on the pitch. He has recently been working for a production company on a number of theatre shows in the South East of England and, when booked for functions, ceremonies and sports awards, talks at length about his days of playing and managing and his current view on modern-day football.
