Sound City, the music festival and international music-business conference that saw great success in Liverpool earlier this year, has joined forces with Livewire to grow the event for 2009 and beyond. Staged for the first time in 2008, highlights of Sound City included The Wombats, Reverend and The Makers and, most noteably, the Liverpool Sound Concert, headlined by Paul McCartney. The move to Livewire brings with it the appointment of Sound City’s Director, Dave Pitchilingi, to the Livewire Group. Dave said “We aim to make Sound City the UK’s premier music-business conference and live music event, and look forward to working with Livewire towards achieving that.” In 2008 the event attracted an audience of over 70,000 people across 4 days, showcasing over 300 bands and attracting £3millon of investment into the city.
